Christmas in Walnut
Saturday, December 9, 2017
Christmas in Walnut is a three-fold event, The Christmas Store and The Christmas Craft Workshop at the Boys & Girls Club, and a complimentary pancake and sausage breakfast next door at Harvest Vineyard, 715 E. 4th St., Waterloo. Mark your calendars to experience a great morning of holiday joy!
Ways To Participate:
Donate a Gift for the Store
Purchase a gift for the Christmas store and bring unwrapped gifts to either end of the church and place them in the large, gift-wrapped boxes.
Breakfast at Harvest Vineyard
Free pancakes and sausage are being offered from 7:45-8:35 am for the Christmas Store and Christmas Craft Workshop volunteers and then from 8:45-noon for the community. It will be a great time of fellowship and good food! We will need 40 volunteers to help flip pancakes and serve breakfast on this morning with friends from Harvest.
Christmas Craft Workshop
Children will make handmade Christmas gifts for their families while their parents shop in the Christmas Store. The annual Christmas Craft Workshop will again be held in the upstairs of the Boys & Girls Club from 9:30 am until noon while the Christmas Store happens on the main level. Crafts and materials are planned and 82 volunteers are needed to staff the craft stations. Volunteers time commitment is from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and all volunteers are encouraged to have breakfast at Harvest between 7:45-8:35 a.m.
Orchard Hill will again include the gift of dignity in our Christmas giving by providing a Christmas Store from 9:30 am until noon at the Boys & Girls Club, next door to Harvest Vineyard. The store gives parents who are struggling financially the opportunity to shop for their own children by selecting new toys/gifts that will be priced at a great discount. Shoppers will by invitation only, and toys/gifts will be purchased and donated by Orchard Hill friends and community partners. We will need 266 volunteers for the Christmas Store. Volunteers must be 16 years or older.
Provide a Treat
Bars & cookies are needed for the hospitality room at the Christmas Store. Volunteers can make 2 dozen bars or cookies, place them in disposable containers marked "Christmas Store", and deliver them to the church kitchen on December 7 or 8.
Donate Toward this Event
Consider giving financially to help fund the events of the day and to help purchase gifts for the Christmas Store. Checks may be made out to Orchard Hill Church with "Christmas in Walnut" written in the memo line or donate securely online.
