    CHECK-IN

Check-in for all kids is located in the southeast wing of the church.  Entrance “E” will provide you with the most convenient access to the main check-in counter. Nurseries for infants to two-year-olds are available on Sunday mornings during all of our worship services. We offer three separate nursery rooms located in the southeast wing of the church (directly inside Entrance "E"), to accommodate the different age groups.

    INFANTS

We know that leaving your new baby for the first time can be overwhelming.  The volunteers in our infant classrooms have been chosen for this age group because of their love for babies and their training to care for all of the needs of your infant.  We hope that the following information will help you and your baby have a great experience on Sunday morning.

Please bring diapers, bottles, pacifiers, and any special blankets that will soothe your baby through the morning.  Label all items that belong to your baby. We promote your kids from this classroom based on development.  So, when they start walking, we will move them up to the Toddler room.

    TODDLERS & 2’s

This is a fun and active stage in your kid’s lives.  We are excited to have them in our program and look forward to teaching them that God loves them, God made them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Your toddlers and two-year-olds will also participate in many age-appropriate, creative activities throughout the morning.

We provide toys, activities, and snacks in the classrooms.  We usually serve Goldfish, pretzels and animal crackers.  If your kids have any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform the teachers and bring appropriate snacks for them.

Be sure to bring extra diapers and a change of clothes. Label all items, including cups, snacks, diapers, pacifiers, etc. If your kids are potty training, please be sure to communicate that to the teacher. We ask that they wear pull-ups to the classrooms. Volunteers are never allowed in the bathrooms alone with kids. They will assist them with clothing (as needed) outside the door and with hand washing afterward inside the classroom.

Please do not bring extra toys, since it is hard to distinguish what belongs to whom. This can cause the kids unnecessary frustration when they are asked to share something that was brought from home. Your kids will be “bumped up” to the next classroom if they have had a birthday in the recent quarter. "Bump up" dates are published at our Check-In counters.

    A SAFE ENVIRONMENT

Our nurseries provide a safe and loving place for God's littlest kids while parents have the opportunity to worship, serve, or attend an adult community group. All of the nurseries are located behind the Check-in Counter south of the Community Center.  Please check in your child(ren) and label all personal items.

    Infants: Room 180

For babies 4 weeks old to about 14 months.  This nursery is staffed with loving volunteers that have a heart for showing God's love to babies.  Once your child is able to walk around without holding onto things it is time for him/her to move to the Toddler room.

    Toddlers: Room 182

For kids around 14 months--they can walk steady without holding onto things--to 2 years old.  This nursery is staffed with loving volunteers that love to play, interact, and help toddlers grow to know God loves them.

    Two Years Old: Room 183

For kids who are two years old. In this nursery, kids will have free play, sing songs, hear Bible stories, and eat a snack. This room is staffed with loving nursery volunteers that want to teach our two-year-olds about God's love.

    Mom's Nursing Room: Room 166

This room, located between the Community Center and the Coffee House, is open during worship services and provides a quiet, private place for mothers who may need to nurse their babies.

    THE SUNDAY MORNING EXPERIENCE

We want Sunday to be the best day of your child’s week.  The following information will  help you understand what the Sunday morning experience is like:

After activity time, the kids will be engaged in a large group teaching where they will see Biblical characters come to life.  They will also have the opportunity to sing and dance while learning worship songs.  Kids will also be assigned to a table group where they will participate in creative, fun activities through a hands-on experience.

If your kids are potty training, please communicate that to the teachers and bring an extra change of clothes. Volunteers are never allowed in the restrooms alone with kids. They will assist them with clothing (as needed) outside the door and with hand washing afterwards inside the classroom.

We provide snacks each week. If your kids have any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform the teachers and bring appropriate snacks for them.

Please do not bring toys from home, as it is very difficult to keep up with them and it causes unnecessary stress for the kids when they are asked to share with other kids.

Kids will be promoted to the next classroom on one of four scheduled "bump up" days throughout the year. The "bump up" days are published at our Check-In counters.

    THE SUNDAY MORNING EXPERIENCE

Orchard Kids is our Sunday morning environment for elementary-aged kids (K- 5th grade). We believe the Bible should never be boring, and worship is energetic and good leaders always care. Every Sunday, kids will have the opportunity to attend a powerful large group teaching that encourages them to think about how a Bible story or verse relates to their own lives.  Following large group, kids will participate in small groups. We feel that small groups are vital to our program, as we want kids to see how God's Word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to Him, and to build friendships that will last.

  • 6th graders; Room 141 (Prayer Room) at  9:15 a.m.

This ministry is just for sixth graders and prepares them for their transition into the Junior High Ministry.

We have three goals for the sixth grade students:
    1. Build relationships with the students
    2. Provide opportunities for the students to build relationships
    3. Help students take the next step in their personal faith journey

We do this through weekly lessons and special events. The curriculum is designed to help a 6th grader gain a better understanding of Christ and how to apply Christian principles to life in today's world.

Note: Cedar Falls Schools have 6th grade students attending at the elementary building. This is why 6th graders at Orchard Hill Church associate with the Kids Ministry and not the Junior High Ministry.
