As a Children's Ministry Team, we love to hear from you! We want to do all we can to help children and families grow into more fully devoted followers of Christ! We welcome your questions and comments, and you can call us at the church office at 319-266-9796 or email Joan Trebon, Director of Children's Ministries, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Where do I go if I want my child to attend Sunday morning programming like Great Adventure, Wee Adventure or to go into the nursery while I go to a worship service? For safety and security, all families need to begin by checking in at the Children's Ministry Check-in Counter. Enter Door E on the southeast side of the Community Center. If you have not yet registered your child, please stop by the "New Registrations" kiosk just to the right of Door E. Once registered, proceed to the Check-in Counter. Children and parents will receive security tags with matching numbers. If we need to contact you about your child during the worship service, we will flash your number on the screen during the service. If you see your number, please return to the Check-in Counter for information. After checking in, you may bring your child to his/her classroom (2nd-6th graders are allowed to walk to their classrooms on their own but parents must accompany all children younger than 2nd grade to and from their classrooms.). Children under 2nd grade will wait in the classroom for parents to pick them up when service is over. Please make specific arrangements with your 2nd-6th grader as to whether or not you will come to the classroom to get them or will meet them somewhere else in the church building, etc. 2. It sounds like my kids are having a lot of fun! Can I, as a parent, volunteer? Absolutely! We love for parents to volunteer with their children because it gives you a shared faith-building experience! You can take what you learned in the lesson together and talk about it at home all week long! Contact Sheila McClanahan at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to talk about volunteer opportunities! In addition to parents, we welcome junior high students, high school students, college students, single adults, young couples, empty nesters and seniors to consider volunteering. If you have a heart for kids and want to share the love of Jesus with them, we've got a place for you! 3. Is there a security check on the people who will be spending time with my child? YES! For the safety of all of the children, all volunteers and Children's Ministry staff members are required to have a background check before serving with the children.
