Everybody Loves a Good Story!
As Lent and Holy Week have culminated in celebration on Easter Sunday, we have again been reminded of the incredible power of Jesus’ dramatic ‘story’ to impact and change lives. Through the unspoken retelling of God’s plan of redemption played out in mime and music, the reenactment of the Passover and the beginning of what we know as Communion, the testimonies of students at our Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services, and the proclamation of the Good News of the Resurrection at all of our Easter services, thousands of people all over the Cedar Valley (and beyond) had powerful encounters with Jesus and heard, saw, and experienced the gospel story.
We are grateful for an army of devoted staff and volunteers who worked hard to prepare, plan, pray and provide warm hospitality at all our events across our campuses during Holy Week and Easter! We know many people came ‘on the arm of a trusted friend or family member’ to hear the amazing story of God’s love for them. We continue to collect stories of how God is at work in people’s lives, even as we are celebrating and remembering some of the most important and impactful services of our Church year. Thank you to all for helping make this Lent and Easter season such a meaningful time in the life our church and community.
As we turn the page into April and this spring season, we are excited about the upcoming Sunday series “Stories from the Seats.” Over the years, this has been one of Orchard’s favorite and most sought after (on our media page) teaching series. People love to hear stories of God’s transforming work! So over the next three Sundays, we will have the privilege of hearing the stories of people from our midst tell their stories of how they have encountered and followed Jesus. We believe that in hearing these stories, many will realize how God can be and is at work in their own lives. Please join us in praying for and thanking these courageous people for opening up their lives to us over the next few weeks.
As leaders, we continue to be ‘amazed and perplexed’ at all that God is doing in our midst. We count it a privilege to serve alongside a talented staff team and a wise Board who are deeply committed to ourion of helping next generations to encounter and follow Jesus to bless a broken world. Thank you too, for being on mission with us!
