Tuesday, October 10: The corruption in the world caused by evil desires

Pulled ApartWe are distracted people, with access to more technology, entertainment, and information than anyone before us. While much of that technology is so good, there's a dark side, and God’s word has a lot to say about living distracted, fragmented, pulled-apart lives. Join us as we explore hope and motivation to become people who focus on what really matters.

Read 2 Peter 1:3-4

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Reflect

Because of our relationship with God through Christ, we're promised that he'll meet both our spiritual and physical needs. But we're also promised protection from the negative and potentially dangerous solutions to meeting those needs offered by the world.

Respond

Getting and having are among the biggest distractions that confront us, threatening to take over our lives and push us to excuse wrong in the name of getting what we want. Father, help us experience the peace that comes from appreciating your provision, and help us resist the alluring desire for possessions that can drag us in the wrong direction. Amen.
