Wednesday, November 15: That they may have life, and have it to the full
How we think impacts how we live our whole lives. God wants to transform us, to make us more and more like Jesus, by changing the way we think—what the Bible calls the renewing of our minds. For five weeks, we'll survey five aspects of how God can and will change our minds, along with a prayer challenge for each week.
Read John 10:7-10
Therefore Jesus said again, "Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
What great encouragement Jesus gives us here in saying that he came to give not only life to us, the sheep who follow this good shepherd, but life to the full.
Do you see God as your good shepherd? If not, what's in your way? Label the wall that stands between you and God, and every day hand him a brick from that wall, one at a time.
A prayer for the week
God, thank you for the gift of another day and the opportunities it brings. You are a good and generous God. Help me to live today with great anticipation of the abundant goodness you're bringing to me and those around me. Renew my mind so that I can see your good life, join in it, share it, and invite others to join in. Amen.
