Monday, August 6: Wisdom from Proverbs
Proverbs is a practical book filled with "sound bites" of God's wisdom. As we read, we need to remember that a proverb isn't a promise that God will always respond to our behavior in a certain way, but a memorable phrase that points to truth beyond itself. Proverbs are God's guidelines for wise living, not his guarantees for prosperity or blessing.

"It's no good, it's no good!" says the buyer—
then goes off and boasts about the purchase.
How often do you find yourself manipulating a situation by claiming someone's taking advantage of you, but then later knowing that it was you who got the upper hand?
As you encounter situations today at home, at work, or elsewhere, that require some sort of negotiation or give-and-take, try to avoid thinking in terms of winners and losers, victors, and victims. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
