Additional Details
There is nothing prettier than watching a bird dog work a field on a sun-drenched Iowa Saturday in the fall. And there are few things more exciting than seeing a cackling rooster pheasant flush from the grass.
Every year the youth of Iowa get the first crack at seeing those flushes and hearing those cackles. If you have a youth in your life, 15 or under, that you think would enjoy and benefit from that experience, reserve your spot(s) and plan to join us for the Orchard Hill Parent/Youth Pheasant Hunt. All youth must be accompanied by an adult. Training, safety info, breakfast, and hunting ground all provided. Some transportation and guns are available if needed.

This is a great opportunity not only to expose kids to something that can be a meaningful lifetime hobby and a great way to experience nature, but also a chance to try hunting without having to have a license or having taken a hunter's safety class. Youths will be under the direct supervision of an adult age 18 or older that has a valid hunting license and habitat fee. Only the youth are allowed to shoot pheasants and they may bag one rooster per day. Special youth-only seasons allow young hunters an opportunity for success without pressure or competition from other hunters.
For ages 12-15. Registration limited to 24 youth hunters.
Registration deadline 10/12/24.
**Parents have the option to buy birds that will be planted in the fields. Birds can be purchased for $20 each and payment can be made to Mike O'Connor directly in cash or via Venmo -- @greendevil58 .
