Last summer, we talked with and prayed with our partners in Haiti, JeanJean & Kristie, about what action steps we could take as a congregation to provide some encouragement to their ministry during this incredible time of upheaval and unrest within the country. Through this prayer time, the K-12 teachers at UCI continually were brought to our attention. When the teachers are supported, the whole system can improve! With your help, we collected items that were on the wish lists of these teachers - some professional items, some personal items, some food items, some gifts, all things that are difficult to find within their country at the moment.
At Outdoor Church, we packed tool kits. We also packed sewing kits and gathered lots of supplies, all put together in these tote bags complete with the UCI logo.
We just got word that these gifts have arrived safe & sound in Haiti and are now in the hands of these teachers.
From Kristie: "The teachers love love love their bags!!! Don't they look great? They all say a big thank you and send lots and lots of love."
Families who sponsor students in Haiti also have the opportunity each year to send Christmas gifts to their students. Those have also arrived and students are overjoyed with the gifts!
